According to EUROSTAT, Member States spent over €1000 billion on health in 2015.
The share of government expenditure for health to GDP varied across EU Member States with the lowest for Cyprus (2,6%) while Denmark (8.6%), France (8.2%), Austria and the Netherlands (both 8.0 %) had the highest share. Greece spent 4,5%, namely 60% lower than the average percentage. The average of EU’s GDP was 7.2%.
